        Welcome to Trash Bash 42: the Canada and Independence Days 
edition!  All the questions this week have to do with the US and Canada 
in some way.

        Rules are same as always: 20 questions with a base value of 100 
points and a bonus with a base value of 200 points, with final points 
awarded being the base value divided by the number of people with the 
correct answer.

        Here are the answers and results for Trash Bash 42: the Canada 
and Independence Days edition:

1.  The current English lyrics of "O Canada" were based on the version written 
    in 1908 by whom?

        A: Justice Robert Stanley WEIR or Sir Adolphe-Basile ROUTHIER.  
           Routhier wrote the original French lyrics, which were used to modify 
           Weir's version in 1980.  (14 points)

2.  Upon what old English drinking song were the words to "The Star Spangled
    Banner" set?

3.  Name the man who was recently named Canada's Athlete of the Year for 1995.

        A: Jacques VILLENUEVE, for his performance in IndyCar racing (he is now

5.  These awards, which honor Canadian musicians, turned 25 this year.  Name 
    them.

        A: JUNO Awards (8 points)

6.  What Reagan Cabinet member got into hot water for not allowing the annual
    Independence Day concert featuring the Beach Boys to go on, saying that 
    they attracted the wrong element?

7.  The flag of this Canadian province is the Scottish flag with a s shield
