Hi Oldies Fans,
This quiz will be on the difficult side for most of you, but identifying my 3
intended mini-themes (each of the 27 songs is part of at least one mini-theme)
should aid you in further guesswork/identification. Let me know what mini-
themes you find.
After the 25 regular songs, there will be 2 tie-breakers. These 2 songs will
not be in the alphabetical mix with the other 25 but will be alphabetized with
respect to one another. What these 2 songs have in common is that they do not
fit the eligibility requirements for inclusion in the regular part of the
quiz: either they were released prior to 1955 or else they were released between
1955 & 1969 but did not hit the Top 100 on the Pop charts for my specific artist.

RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #84 (GOLQ84)
Congratulations to BARRY SILK, SCOOTER MAGRUDER, JOE HAERTEL & DEBRA DUKE who
edged out The Gypsy's Caravan (IRIS SHAPIRO, LANE QUIGLEY, WAYNE SWICKLEY,
JACK FREEMAN & CHRIS STONE) for 1st place; both teams had outstanding scores.
Excellent totals were achieved by RON & SALLY CRANDALL and the team of RICK &
KATHY SCHUBERT & MARC DASHEVSKY. THE WICKED BOYS, the NORM KATUNA-STEVE
PROPES team, THE EJ's & CO., REALLY ROCKIN' IN BOSTON, TEAM OLDTUNES & WENDY

signature song of Billie Holliday. There are 17 doo-wop versions of "Stormy
Weather" listed in Gribin/Shiff's book "Doo-wop: The Forgotten Third Of Rock &
Roll." The Five Sharps' 1952 version of it became the most sought-after 78
record in history. Although a flop in its original release, it became the
object of an almost hysterical search by collectors. Only 2 copies are known
to have survived. One sold for $3,866 in 1977.]
