Antonio,
Bill has responded to you about the where of Ocean City and the when
of the next bash. I just thought I would specify, with regard to Ocean City,
that there is indeed an ocean there, quite large in fact, but there is not much
of a city.
If you aren't in Kazakhstan again, come on over!

Others have given you serious answers, so I will give you the "real" answer:
Step 1: Go to Madrid. Step 2: Go about 100 miles due south (to about 39
degrees 25' north) and make a right turn. Step 3: When you get to the
Atlantic Ocean, keep going straight; when it stops being the Atlantic Ocean,
you are in Ocean City, New Jersey.
Of course, if you come by airplane, you might want to get different
directions, since Ocean City doesn't actually have any place to land. :)

Subject: OC Bash 8!
Greetings OC Bashers!
This email contains important and time-sensitive information.
Please read it carefully. :)
There are two different fees that you need to send:
-Bash Registration
-Payment for your Friday night dinner
Most of you will be sending a check in the amount of $57.00,
which will cover both your Bash Registration and your Friday
night dinner.
I need to collect all monies no later than March 13. This
is important since the restaurant at which we're dining
Friday night is expecting a significant down-payment
shortly thereafter.
Bash costs are as follows:
Bash Registration Fees:
-Friday and Saturday night - $32.00
-Friday night only - $16.00
-Saturday night only - $16.00
Your Bash registration includes:
-Saturday night Pizza Party
-Beer, wine, soda and snacks for the entire weekend
-Saturday morning pastries & coffee
-Conference room fees & incidentals
Please note that your registration fee does *not* include
Sunday Brunch. If you plan on attending Sunday Brunch,
you'll need to purchase a "ticket" at the Port-O-Call's
front desk when you check in. The cost will be $12.00 (this
price includes tax and gratuity). This can be charged to
your room, if you wish.
The price of Friday night dinner is $25.00, regardless
of which entree you choose.
Entree selections are not yet available, but as usual you
will have the opportunity to choose from a meat, fish or
poultry entree. The cost of dinner will include all
hors d'oevres, 3 or 4 courses, dessert, and tax and
gratuity. Cocktails, beer and wine are not included,
but can be purchased separately at the restaurant's
bar. As soon as entree selections are available, I'll
send out email requesting that you let me know which
entree you'd like.
Please total up your expected expenses from the above
information, and send your payment in full so that it
ARRIVES by March 13 to:
Mark Krenrich
When you send your check, please enclose a note indicating
your screen name (Delphi Triviots include both your email
address and the name under which you play trivia). If you're
bringing a spouse, guest, significant other, etc., please
enclose payment for them as well.
More bash info, including directions to the hotel and
a list of entree selections, will soon be forthcoming.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me!
See you all in about 6 weeks!! :D

Haven't sent your Bash Registration and Friday night
dinner money yet? Please send your check right away!
You can check to see if I've received your payment at
http://delphi.com/people/starkmad/guests.html
Directions to the Port-O-Call and the restaurant at
which we'll be dining Friday night will be sent out
about a week before the Bash. In addition, I'll
be sending out mail requesting which entree you'd
like Friday night as soon as the choices are made
available to me.
WE NEED COMPUTERS! We'll have three phone lines
set up in our conference room, so if you can lug
a computer along, please do!
Attention Ocean Blues fans: if you'd like to have
Craig special order any hard-to-find CDs before our
visit, you can email him at oceanbl718@aol.com. For
those of you who aren't familiar with Ocean Blues,
it's a favorite destination of music-loving Triviots
not only because of the wide selection of CDs available,
but also because Craig usually charges us only $10.00
per CD! We usually visit Ocean Blues as a group sometime
Saturday afternoon during an OC Bash! Those wishing to
place special orders via Craig's email address
should do so no later than March 27. Feel free to
mention that you'll be in on April 4 with "that
group that comes in every spring." ;)
That's all for now! 13 days and counting! :D

Hey all,
Just adding in my few muffled words here...
We are having a quiet moning after a long rowdy evening. Bill
is looking over my shoulder, Arwen is flirting with Howard,
Ricken is doing the coffee thing, and Diane is protecting
her dad (Howie) from Arwen's advances. (She denies all!)
At dinner last night we had 5 tables of 8 attending. Nice
crowd!!! Of course, we had 2 waitiers, 1 rather clueless.
Reminds me of Alicia...
The party in the conference room finally disbanded around
4:00am. Alcoholic fluids flowed in abundance...
Yesterday was a wonderful day, and the storm front from
Minnesota arrived last night, which leaves us a gloomy
morning to play in. But the days calendar says that April
4th has much in store. A casino run into A/C vs attending
Primary Colors in the local bijou. We were instructed by
Arlene to attend the film!!! I take this to mean that she
is greatly concerned about losing at the Blackjack tables
and slots.
Arwen is done flirting with Howard and is hitting on me
now ! :) Woo hoo!!
A few more bedraggled folks have made it in for coffee and
pastries, and Stevie Ray Vaughn on the cd...
That's all I know fer now....

WOW!
From: JCMGD To: ALL
Thanks, Mark for a SUPER bash! Had the best dinner ever at Crabby's (even
though I couldn't pay for it) & bought *2* new highbrow hostette gowns!
The dinner on Friday, The Pizza on Saturday, & the breakfast were all
fine! And I even managed to win a couple of games of Hearts & Cribbage.
Arlene picked a great movie (but needs to re-think transportation next time.
It was pretty scary, when the night maid dropped by to bring mints & ask
if there was anything else she could bring me or do for me. Was that
*really* the Port o' Call????
Despite the 240 cans of Vernor's kind of making my car fishtail, I
managed to get back to the casinos to win back some of the money I
lost on Wednesday & survive the rest of the GSP.
Thanks again for a superb job !!!!!

Hey ya all...
I'm finally home, after the wife made me do some shopping on the
way home, It was fun all weekend! Especially last night when We had the
pizza party , Stark orderded them up, they came in, and after 10 min they
were gone, so of course after two silces, Stark looked at me,and said have
you had enough, I said only 2 slces for this 6 pack that I just have drowned
in my body, well Stark THE GREAT HOST that he is, ordered up more Pizza, in
15 min they came, and again they went!!!!!
We all had Brunch this morning. We devoured all the Hotel could muster up.
All of us were there, But No Nick, Now We know he & Enigs went to AC last
night, he must of stayed in his room this morning, either counting his
winnings, or on the phone with his acct, how he could get home!

OC Bash 8
From: HOWARDAT To: ALL
It was another great bash! Joanne, Diane, Mikey and I had a wonderful time.
(My family is now home and reunited, except for the dog, who will be retrieved
from the kennel tomorrow.) It was great seeing all the old familiar faces, as
well as meeting some new ones, namely Rachel, Di, Dave-id, Bruce and his wife
Sandy, Nick, Ziggy, Donna (Ricken's friend, not "our" Donna) and any others
whose names have temporarily escaped me... I feel like I have several new
friends who I already knew, who I didn't really know, but now I know, and...
Um, you get the idea. I think Bengfer's "white lightning" is still wearing
off; I never knew milk could have that effect on a person.
We didn't make it down for dinner Friday night, but we had a good time
greeting the whole gang when they returned. I also seemed to be the center of
attention, as many of those in attendance were curious as to how I was going
to deal with a certain scheduling-related personnel issue. (The answer is,
with my usual diplomatic aplomb. :D) As usual, there was a lot of good
conversation Friday night, and all weekend. Later Friday evening, back in our
room, I noticed that there was continuous and raucous female laughter
emanating from one of our neighboring rooms. You didn't really keep me awake
though, Arlene and Di, and I *really* don't want to know what was going on in
there... :D
Saturday's highlights for me included a walk down the boardwalk in a light
rain to see "Primary Colors," followed by a much less adventurous (but drier)
return trip in Scott and Rachel's car in a near-downpour. The movie was okay,
but don't get me started. :D Many thanks to Arlene for organizing the movie
trip as always, but I do have to hope that next year's bash-weekend selections
include something more along the lines of "The Birdcage" (the 1996 bash movie
trip) and Howard Stern's "Private Parts" (1997). I want to laugh. The pizza
at night was great, and disappeared with its usual speed. I have a feeling
that pizza prices in southern New Jersey have a brief spike after our bashes,
due to the sudden depletion in supply...
Late at night on Saturday, Di and Arlene seemed to have taken their nocturnal
activities elsewhere, as all was quiet. :)
There was no comet this year.
Sunday featured the usual collection of mixed feelings -- good food at brunch
and more great conversation into the afternoon, but sadness at the thought of
not seeing many friends in person for another year. As always though, seeing
the faces that go with the names (even the faces that I have seen at many
previous bashes) makes it more enjoyable to hang out with the same people
online in the meantime.
Last but not least, many, many thanks to Mark (StarkMad) for organizing and
presiding over yet another great bash. You do a great job, and a lot of
people have a great time because of your hard work.
Thanks again, everybody, for a great weekend!
:) Howard

bash
From: DIANEN1 To: ALL
Having arrived home just a short time ago, and catching up on 700 forum posts,
I would like to make a brief bash statement thingie:
It was great! It was fun! I remembered why I enjoy belonging to this
particular group of people.
I did NOT keep howard up, that was the other movie remake people:)
Nick at Nite has a new meaning.
It really was lightening out on Friday night.
Milk does not do a body good.
Rug and Di are taking their Michigan rules euchre on the road for profit.
I won my plane fare in 20 minutes at the casino:)
Di and her 'harem' attended the opening of Lost in Space on Friday - very
entertaining, campy, funny, and every bit as hokey as the original series but
with great visuals:)
having a room between "nick who really does exist and we let him live" and
howard can make for very interesting nocturnal entertainment.
All of the Dr. Hook knowledged in the world is contained at a table of 4.
They make horses with soft saddles:)
Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice are great people to know.
Rachel is as great of a friend in person and she is online.
John and Dana possibly have the 2nd cutest son in the country:0
Solo loves to see if he can load my backpack enough for me to topple backward
heheh.
Joanne is one of the nicest women I have ever met - she's married to an
attorney???
There is something in the fluid that male triviots drink making them all like
7 feet tall!!
The cure for drinking lighter fluid is a good old walk in the gale force winds
and driving rain.
Arlene is the greatest roomate!
Paul is the greatest crazy driver on the east coast.
Sparky will only let you go to bed if you have the right touch:D
Will's lingerie collection is totally unbelieveable!
The warmer a car gets, the less one has to wear.
If you try to turn down the heat - will protests --- loudly!
I have seen some strange photographers in my life but will!!!!
Ziggy 'erases' blackmail pics in reappearable disks!
Arwen likes to interrupt people when they are talking to themselves.
Bill's vast knowledge of Dr. Hook and Bobby Sherman music is very amazing!
Exactly what is a Norden or Norton anyway:)
Russ does a mean walk on the broads!
Dippin dots are all the rage
Bruce thinks that one case of beer consumption per day qualifies him for aa
LOL!
Lora and Steve really are a very cute and nice couple. I wish them all the
happiness life has to offer.
If i ever recover from having 3 hours sleep in 4 days, I may possibly tell
more. If I only killed the weak brain cells, that is.
On a soberish note, this is a great group with more humor in one room than
there is in the whole world. Also, more caring and humanity than one would
ever guess. Thank you all:)
P.S. How many exits are there from LaGuaaadia to o.c. jean?? I forget:)

OC Bash 8!!!
From: TRIVIABUFF To: ALL
First off, I want to thank Stark for organizing a great bash! :) I am so glad
that I finally got to meet everyone that I have been talking to for almost 4
years.
After I checked in, I went downstairs to the Conference room, I didn't know if
it was the right one even though it was the only one that had people in it, so
I went back up to the desk and asked and the Pennylvainia room was the right
room :) I walked in and didn't really know what to do, so I stood off to the
side for a minute and just watched and listened, Will saw me and came over and
introduced himself, most of the triviots were at the theatre they had gone to
see Lost in Space, they said that they were the only ones in the theatre and
someone else walked in and they warned that person that they didn't want to be
in there with them...
I had a room where if I looked to the left I could see the ocean or if I just
looked straight off the balcony I could see the ocean and all the rest of the
hotels and houses that were near the Port O'Call. I didn't walk on the beach
like I wanted to, it was to cold and rainy Saturday that's the only thing that
was a disappointment.
There were surprises on what I thought people looked like, (who I had not seen
a picture of) but the one person who I knew who they were without haveing
seen a picture of was ID, not because he's tall (he was sitting when I first
saw him), somehow I just knew it was him. When I met BenH at the airport, I
had known what he looked like from the pictures that Stew had sent me, even
though I thought Ben was taller. Beng was there and we were talking and he
said something about a study in contrasts, he is one of the triviots that is
tall and here I am standing next to him at 4 foot 11.
I had my first taste of beer, didn't care for it, but I liked Beng's drink
concoction White Whale, I believe he called it. I tend to be partial to Rum
when I do drink.
I appreciate everyone trying to help me out last week in the forum with the
travel arrangements and also once getting there asking how Steve was getting
to the Bash and stuff. Also, thank you BenH and Will for driving me to and
from OC! Even though I complained about my mom worrying about me driving that
far before the Bash, I am very glad that my parent's bought me the plane
ticket. I was in no shape to drive today, and would have probably tried to get
the room for another nite had I had to drive. I kept dozing off this afternoon
on the way to the airport and I also dozed off on the plane a little bit.
Lora (looking forward to the next bash she will go to)

Bash
From: BENANAS To: ALL
Well I had a great time at the bash, as always, even if we had to leave early.
Thanks Stark for doing a great job of organizing everything.
I really liked the ambience and location of that restaurant we went to on
Friday, it was a good choice.
Enjoyed seeing all the old faces again and it was a real treat to see some new
blood making it to the bash.
I'm glad we could be of assistance in getting Lora from Newark Airport to the
bash, I know that wouldn't have been easy to do on your own, given that you've
never been to New Jersey before.
We enjoyed the movie and it was good we could stay that long...
Had to make a hasty departure for North Jersey for Valerie's high school
reunion.
That was fun too; she and my sister were in the same high school class so we
had a nice group of friends to hang out with, even though it wasn't my class.
Valerie enjoyed the bash a lot also. Last year, she didn't know quite what to
expect, but this time she knew several of the people, felt more comfortable
and had a good time.
You know, as the ranks dwindle for the games and there are hardly any midnight
games anymore, it seems like the whole thing is fading away...
But when you go to a bash that's more fun than ever, and lots of new faces
show up, you can tell that this is a permanent, well sort of permanent, er um,
community...
As we get older we seem to bring the trivia club along with us.
I really felt bad leaving early, was having such a great time, it was an
interruption of something that should not have been disturbed. Oh well, these
things happen...We'll be back next year and it's extremlely unlikely anything
will interfere.
N.B. The rain on Saturday was actually sort of an advantage...at least we
didn't have to waken to the sound of hammers and power tools :)

The Trivia people are a great bunch, I have known that for a long time, but
it's great to get to see them all together instead of jsut seeing there names
on a screen, it was fun trying to play trivia Saturday nite with Triviots
sitting next to me.

A few bash notes.
From: MSWENSON To: ALL
My two cents worth on the Bash:( I did save two cents after playing
blackjack)
WTG STARK!!!! I had a great time even though I put a damper on things
by letting my plane latch onto and drag the storms that were here on
friday all the way to OC. It was a blast all in all though.
After all the years of saying "I'll try to make it to the bash this time"
I finaly did and found out what I have been missing out on. Now if only
I can remember. The pictures I took should help out greatly.???????????
It was great to meet everyone face to face. Even though I am beginning
to think a warning sign should be placed at the exit to the elevator(?)
at the confrence room level. To warn any women's religious groups that
once attended AA, to bring their medallions and their 12 step books also.
A few things I learned in Ocean City after attending the bash.
Are that Bengfer is also a chemist. The temperature in the room was raised
by 10 degrees with the ongoing experiment with making "white whales" I
think? And a very funny guy. "The fumes must effect the humor cells in the
brain". Stark can provide some great entertainment in the parking garage on
the way to the casino. By tormenting old folks by psyching them out into
thinking they were going to get a spot to park in, and then pulling back in.
( also spotted was a running, empty looking car in the garage that ended up
having someone in it suffering from possible carbon monoxide poisoning).
Damn didn't have the camera!! If only Billp49 would have saved the postage
money and brought the pen and such I lucked into, to the bash I could have
used the pen to change it from a ten spot to a c note with a few
alterations. And could then have used it to make a comeback at blackjack.
The movie "Gone in 60 seconds" could be remade with a re-run of what
happens right after a large amount of pizza's are delivered. (I'm starting
to think triviot's are actually a mutant breed of piranha's).
I really do have an accent????
The waiters at the "waterfront" started the daylight savings time a bit
early, but thought it was spring back, and slowed down a bit to let time
catch up. The sounds I heard outside the room when I went to bed each morning
are waves crashing on the beach and not the sound of high winds.
I could go on and on:)
Thanks to Solo and Sparky for coming to Philly to pick me up and toss me out
at the curb to get signed in, as they were just passing by the hotel on the
way to the casino's.
And a special thanks to Arlene for the ride back to Philly to catch the plane
to get back home:)And the special tour of Philly to see the Liberty Bell and
Independence Hall again after seeing them for the last time about 20 years
ago. With the added suprise of two extra attractions. One was some kind of
Greek Freedom day parade going on at the time. ( thought it was a welcome
back Zig celebration?) And the other and really strange part was pulling up
in front of the Liberty Bell and seeing a camera crew rushing around trying
to get pictures of us together then realizing they were really chasing after
the Presidential knob polisher herself Monica Lewinsky. I may or may not have
a picture of that? They then emptied the building the bell is in just for
me to take pictures so no tourist,:) would get in my way of taking pictures.
But it turned out to be some wreath laying ceremony or whatever. It was on
CNN when I got home.
I didn't mention alot of the folks there but most of what went on was posted
in others bashers posts but memories are great:)
I'm done rambling on.
HAD A GREAT TIME!!!!!!!
Ziggy
P.S. Will is still awake 72 hours in a row!!!!!! WOW.

OC Bash 8
From: AHUBERMAN To: ALL
It's now Monday morning and I returned home from OC Bash 8 at
5:00 a.m. this morning. I feel like I could write pages and pages of
commentary on the bash and all the fun I had, but I think I'll keep
this short and to the point.
Most importantly, a hearty huzzah! to StarkMad for organizing
a fantastic bash at which so many people were able to attend and
have fun. On a personal note, Stark kept a watchful eye on me
and made sure I was well fed, and for that I most grateful.
Thanks, Mark.
It was really nice getting to see people whom I had met in Tahoe
and finally getting to meet so many of the friends and faces I've
been around for years. This was my first opportunity to meet
Solo, Howard, Scott & Rachel Spence (a normal young
suburban couple), Rug & Frood, Bruce, Lora, Nick, Amy,
Norden, Ben, and Ziggy. I never did get an opportunity to
meet Enojon, but at least can say "I've seen Enojon, and the
sheep weren't following him.".
It was a great time, and I eagerly look forward to the next bash event.
Id
sick as a dog.. thanks sparky... just jam it in the shoe and go....

Bashing
From: RCWKID To: ALL
Hey all !!
Time to add my few kudos to Stark for pulling off a fine
get together for us. It was really neat getting to renew
the acquaintances from Tahoe, and to finally meet the rest
of you; like Howard and Joanne and kids, Enojon(MikeyMike),
Nick(he really exists!), the Zigster, the Enigmas, the
one and only Soloflex8, the Lora's Kitty and Steve, Rug
and Frood !, Bengfer, Ben and Valarie, Bruce and Sandy, and
Amy. (I think that's all...)
Oh, and the Nordon...
I had gotten in to OC about 9:30pm Thursday eve, the conf
room was empty, so I went to find dinner. That took awhile..
Finally crashed about 1am, and when I went to the conference
room again, the first I saw was Ricken(oops, forget to mention
him earlier) and Donna(forgot her too). Then Bill and a few
others came over, and we were off and running...Most notably,
Di and Arwen were in their workount clothes in weightroom
across from the conf room, and they closed the curtains! Can
u believe that??? :)
Anyway, we had a nice walk down the boardwalk, wallowed in
dippity dots ice cream, strolled thru the sand, and were
rudely awakened by the sounds of jackhammers, saws, poundings,
and unionized cursings on Friday. My floor was suffering
extensive remodeling, and all the rooms abaove and below
were added victims. er above...
Di talked us into going to Lost in Space on Friday, which
was a fun show. I think you've already heard the story about
the warning we gave the other guy in he cinema. He seemed
to enjoy our company, and we tried not to be too embarrassing.
After brunch on Sunday, I finally got to see most of Joisee
as I drove back to Baltimore. I very nice and clean state
y'all got there. The flights back were on time and very
smooth, but no dinner(even on a 6pm flight out??). I got
into the home-20 at a little past 10:30pm my time, read
the papers, checked the mail(had another cd from AOL), and
crashed.
So, in conclusion, many thanks to those who organize these
kinds of parties, and well-wishes to all those attending.
later,
Russ
ps. That "I very nice..." should be "A very nice..."

MY TURN!
Stark! Thanks for getting this thing together again! You da Man!
It was great to meet those I've not met before and was great to see the usual
crowd again -- hugs all around.
My Bash Thoughts & Memories:
white whales... elevators provide hours of entertainment... the best thing to
eat for breakfast when you're in a hurry -- LUNCH!... 0 to 85 in 6 hands of
Hearts... where are all the AOLers?... there is a Nick!... there are no good
guys, there are no bad guys, there's just you and me and we jsut dissagree --
Dave Mason... 26 is not old... plants and trash cans like to ride elevators...
how many triviots does it take to use the online editor?... the walls at the
Port O Call are paper thin... I need practice staying up drinking all night
and then getting only 3 hours of sleep... people are missed when they don't
show up at bashes... if it ain't broke don't go changing screen colors...
wrong name Arlene! but it wasn't the first time... I must remember to abuse
any future guests of mine before bringing them to a bash... white russians are
"chick drinks"...
Well that's all I can think of... let's all do this again sometime soon!!
:::: already packing for next bash wherever it will be ::::

News Flash
From: SOLOFLEX8 To: ALL
I would also like to offer thanks and heartfelt appreciation
to Mark Kremrich, er, Krenrich ;> for organizing such a
great bash! I also feel fortunate that I was able to participate
in the negotiations in which Howard was able to sign Stark to
a contract for 10 more bashes, bringing us to the year 2008. The
actual fee for the contract will have to remain undisclosed, but I
am at liberty to say that it does involve "bright lights and shiny
objects."
It was certainly nice to meet all of the first time attendees and
to visit once more with bash regulars. It was a really great weekend.
I would also like to thank Stark, Spark, and Dave-id for a great
time Sunday in which we turned a blackjack table into a craps table
for four or five hours, much to the delight of numerous patrons and
employees of Trump Plaza. :>

OC BASH
From: BTEITLER To: ALL
Hi...
This is Sandy.. Bruce's wife.
I just wanted to say that I think the BASH was a great success. It was fun
meeting all of you! While I'm the first to admit I'm not a "trivia"
person.. it was great getting together with a group of people who simply
like to have fun.
I only apologize that I was recuperating from knee surgery and had to spend
some time resting it in our room... and not doing the walk to the movie and
such. In addition, Bruce, being the "loyal husband" that he is,
felt torn between checking on me and being with you all. Hopefully the next
one this will not be a problem.. and I can have a rematch of Hearts, euchre
and cribbage with several of you!
Thanks to everyone, especially Mark, for putting on a "really gud shew"...

To the OC Bashers:
Thanks for welcoming me. It was quite a memorable time - the sacrcastic
banter, the construction noise, the sleep deprivation, the conjugation and
declension of the "F" word, the elevators, and oh yes those White Whales. An
extraordinary party - well done!
